JBS was founded by José Batista Sobrinho in Anápolis, Goiás, Brazil, as a small butcher shop.

First Expansion

Opened its first slaughterhouse in Planaltina, Goiás, Brazil, beginning its growth beyond a local butcher shop.

International Expansion Begins

Entered the international market by acquiring Swift Armour in Argentina, marking its first move outside Brazil.

Acquisition of Swift & Company

Acquired Swift & Company in the United States, becoming the largest beef producer globally.

Diversification with Pilgrim's Pride

Expanded into poultry by acquiring Pilgrim's Pride Corporation in the United States.
